I’ve been wanting to do a blog post about my mac lipstick collection since starting my blog, so here it is. Mac lipsticks are my obsession – i love the whole experience of going to choose the shade in store and trying it on. So far i have 7 different shades which you can see in the photographs, but i want my collection to keep on growing.
All of my lipsticks are mainly different finishes as i love to try out the various textures mac have to offer. I don’t really tend to pick a shade because of it’s finish, just on what colour catches my eye on the day, or i ask the make-up artist to make a suggestion on which shade would suit my skin tone. I feel the lipstick colours in real life are so much different to the mac website swatches. To help get a better view of the colour, i often use other people’s blog posts or images from google to see a more realistic swatch. Hopefully my swatch images will help you get a better idea of the shades and maybe temp you into getting a new lipstick!
The mac lipstick shades i have in my collection are:
Viva Glam Rihanna – Frost
Speak Louder – Cream sheen
Chatterbox – Amplified
Plumful – Lustre
Mocha – Satin
Pink Plaid – Matte
Peach Blossom – Cream sheen
As you can see in my collection, my main tone of lipstick is pink. I love to keep the more natural pinks for the daytime and more vibrant colours for the evening. My newest and favourite shade yet is ‘Mocha’ – it is a nude/brown shade and is something i would never normally go for. I picked up this shade when getting some new foundation and a concealer, so i thought it was a good opportunity to ask the MUA what sort of autumn lip colour i should go for and I fell in love with it.

Viva Glam Rihanna
My first ever red lipstick. I love how it has a subtle shimmer and is a warmer orange-red tone, which suits me. I love the matte burgundy packing as it makes it stand out from the rest. This lipstick is a frost finish and is very creamy, but i feel it does not have a strong staying power and has to be re-applied often.
This shade is a lovely hot pink and i would say this is wearable on most skin tones. It is very pigmented and glides on the lips with ease.
I love chatterbox and is a favourite of mine. It’s a great bright pink colour and definitely pops on me because of my blonde hair. It is long lasting and makes your lips feel moisturised.
This shade is a beautiful pink/plum and is something i wear day and night. If you do not want to go for a dark plum which can look too harsh, then this is perfect for you. It lasts a few hours before being re-applied, but it fades evenly.
A very mature nude/brown shade which is great for autumn. It’s a great natural daytime look with a satin texture. Has hours of staying power and is not as drying as the matte textured lipsticks by mac. As i said before this shade is my new favourite and i will be using it everyday for a minimal look.
My first ever mac lipstick. It is a matte finish with a very delicate muted pale pink colour. I feel with the mac matte lipsticks is that you need to prep your lips with a balm before wearing them as it picks up all the cracks and dry areas. A beautiful colour that is long lasting.
A lovely peachy/pink tone which takes a few swipes to bring out the true colour. It enhances your natural lip colour and is very moisturising and does not dry out. Really recommend this if you want a soft and creamy everyday lip colour.
That’s my mac lipstick collection. I hope you enjoyed reading all about it and inspired you to pick up a new shade! Would love to hear about if you have a favourite mac shade that maybe i could try, so feel free to comment below. Thanks very much, until next time!
