Before i start to talk about the outfit, i would like to thank my boyfriend for taking these photographs. I think you did a great job using my DSLR for the first time and taking my directions (I know i can be picky and want to get things perfect!) Also i am not very used to been in front of the camera, i much prefer taking the photographs! Maybe this is something i need to build my confidence in doing.

At the moment i am loving monochrome; i think it looks so chic and is timeless. This outfit was thrown together when staying over at my boyfriends as what i packed to take didn’t turn out to plan. Firstly i bought some new grey checked leggings and when i tried them on they was faulty because they was not stitched correctly; luckily i didn’t remove the tags! Then silly me got a deodorant mark on my new burgundy silky top which would not come off! A trip to swap the leggings and get a new top was needed, so me and my boyfriend went to the local Newlook and Topshop. I couldn’t get the original leggings as they was not in stock, but i managed to get these grey houndstooth ones which was very similar. I picked up this basic white scallop tee from Topshop which will go with mostly everything!

In the end i think the outfit worked out very well as i have combined the monochrome look with different textures and fabrics. My favourite items of the look are definitely my Vivienne Westwood chancery bag and the fur Topshop slip-on trainers (If your looking at getting these shoes, be prepared for them to hurt and have plasters at the ready.) Also i am really liking the longline duster coats as they give an outfit a cool casual look.

Everyday Make-up

My first stage of my applying my makeup is making sure my face is moisturised, I use Simple Light Moisturiser. I then apply Mac BB Prep & Prime in Medium all over my face using my finger tips which acts as a base for my foundation. You can also use the BB cream on its own for a more natural look and is build-able to give the coverage you desire. The next product I use is Mac Prolonger Foundation in N18 and I apply this by using a Ecotools Foundation Brush; I find this foundation to be very long lasting and provides a sheer to medium coverage. Another bonus with the Prolonger Foundation is there is already a built in pump, unlike the Studio Fix Fluid! The next item has got to be my favourite Mac product ever, which is the Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NW22. I am so happy I listened to a few friends about getting this powder as it is the best I have ever used! It gives a beautiful flawless and matte finish to the skin. I apply the powder by using a Real Techniques Powder Brush and for touch-ups throughout the day I use the pressed powder puff applicator it comes with.

Somedays I like to mix it up with my blusher, so I either use Mac’s Blusher in Dame or Peach twist. Dame is a very subtle purple/pink tone whereas Peach Twist has a golden peach tone with a shimmery texture. I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush & Blush Brush to apply them.

Okay, we are done with the facial makeup regime and now onto the eyes. I love having a winged eyeliner look; somedays it goes perfectly well and other days it can go wrong (i’m too much of a perfectionist!) For my eyeliner, I use Bourjois Liquid Eyeliner In Brown and it lasts up to 16 hours. I go for a brown shade because of my light hair and I think the brown softens the look and doesn’t look too harsh. I love testing out new mascaras, my current one is Loreal Miss Manga Mascara in Extra Black which I am loving as it lengthens my lashes nicely.

Next step is the brows. I have tried so many brow products this year to find the perfect one for me. I came to the conclusion that you get what you pay for with brow products; My top two are Soap & Glory Archery In Brownie Points and Bare Minerals Brow & Define in Taupe (both range from £10-13). I switch between the two products depending on what i fancy using on the day!

Lastly to finish my daily makeup I apply Mac Lipstick in Peach Blossom which is a Creme Sheen finish. I love this shade because it is so natural and subtle, perfect for daytime wear.

I hope you enjoyed my first blog post. I’m really looking forward progressing on my blogging adventure and making more posts!
